What is the difference between counseling and coaching?

Coaching and counseling are two related but distinct disciplines that can complement each other in many ways. Counseling focuses on addressing emotional and psychological issues, and may be appropriate for individuals who are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, or other mental health concerns. Counseling typically involves a licensed mental health professional who uses evidence-based therapies to promote healing and recovery.

In contrast, coaching focuses on helping clients achieve specific goals and improve their performance in various areas of life, such as career, relationships, and personal growth. Coaches typically work with clients who are functioning relatively well, but who may be seeking guidance and support in a particular area. Coaching is generally future-focused and action-oriented, with an emphasis on developing strategies and skills to help clients reach their desired outcomes.

While coaching and counseling have different goals and approaches, they can be complementary in many ways. For example, individuals who have completed counseling may benefit from coaching to help them continue their personal growth and achieve their goals. Similarly, individuals who are currently in counseling may benefit from coaching to help them develop specific skills or strategies to manage their symptoms or improve their relationships.

As a professional counselor and coach, I believe in the power of both disciplines to help individuals achieve their full potential and lead fulfilling lives. Whether you are seeking counseling, coaching, or a combination of both, I am here to provide the support, guidance, and tools you need to succeed.

Can I book an Intake Session?

I believe that the foundation of successful counseling and coaching is the relationship between the client and the practitioner. If you don't feel completely comfortable with your counselor or coach, it may be difficult to make progress towards your goals.

That's why I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to all prospective clients. This consultation gives you an opportunity to learn more about me and my approach, and for us to get to know each other better. During the consultation, we can discuss your needs and goals, and I can answer any questions you may have about my counseling or coaching services. This is also a chance for you to determine whether you feel comfortable and confident working with me.

I believe that this initial consultation is an important step in building a strong and effective therapeutic relationship. It ensures that we are a good fit and that we can work together to achieve your desired outcomes. If you have any questions or would like to schedule a free consultation, please don't hesitate to reach out. I look forward to speaking with you.
